Last September, the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (PUC-Campinas) in São Paulo hosted the 53rd Brazilian Congress on Engineering Education and the 8thInternational Symposium (COBENGE 2025). Organized by ABENGE, this congress isBrazil’s most important forum for debating the future of engineering.
COBENGE annually gathers leaders, academics, companies, and students interested in the development of national engineering. At this prestigious event, Jala University demonstrated its excellence with outstanding representation.
An Impactful Project: VoluMap3D
We are proud of the Jala University Portuguese track delegation, which presented the research project: “VISUAL GEOMETRY AND VOLUME: AN EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL PROPOSAL WITH VOLUMAP3D.”
The team included students Vitória Barbosa, Gabriel da Silva, Willian Marques de Faria, Grazielle Nascimento Ferreira, and Katarina Rodrigues de Sousa, guided by Professor Melina Silva de Lima (Linear Algebra) and supported by Professor Marcos Bueno de Morais.

VoluMap3D is a web software designed for the automated 3D modeling of solids from images. Its innovation lies in the practical application of calculus concepts (definite integrals) for calculating volume and projection area, combining image processing algorithms with graphical libraries like Three.js.
Tests performed with regular geometric solids showed high accuracy, with a margin of error under 1.1%.
