{Credit Transfer}

What is credit transfer?
At Jala University, we understand that many students have already completed courses at other institutions and want to use those studies to advance more quickly in their academic journey.
We also recognize that some students may wonder if the credits earned at Jala University will be accepted by other universities in the future. Below, we explain both scenarios.

If you have credits from another institution
Jala University allows up to 75% of the required credits for a bachelor’s degree to be transferred. Refer to the Jala University Catalog for the complete transfer credit process.
Eligibility Criteria
Credits must come from accredited or officially recognized universities.
Only courses with a grade of "C" or higher (or equivalent on other grading scales) are accepted.
Credits must correspond to equivalent subjects within Jala University’s curriculum.
Remedial, basic academic development, or technical training courses are not accepted.
Jala University reserves the right to reject credits for courses older than five years, except in cases approved by the Chief Academic Officer.

Process for Requesting Credit Transfers

1.
Request credit transfer by submitting an official transcript directly to the Admissions Office.

2.
If the transcript is from an institution outside of the U.S. or LATAM, it must be evaluated by a NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services)-approved credential evaluation company.

3.
The Admissions Committee evaluates credits on a course-by-course equivalency.

4.
Receive notification of transfer credit evaluation.

Jala University will award up to 12 credits for prior learning via the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). CLEP is designed to recognize the college-level knowledge students may have acquired outside the Jala University classroom environment. Credits that are awarded are applied solely towards fulfilling General Education requirements and are not applicable to major academic core or lab courses. This policy ensures that we support our students by allowing up to 12 CLEP General Education credits, based on evaluation criteria, but maintain the rigor of the academic program by ensuring our graduates have directly engaged with and mastered the core competencies of their chosen field of study through direct instruction.
Appeal Policy
If a student disagrees with the credit transfer evaluation, they may submit an appeal to the Registrar’s Office within 5 business days of notification.

Steps to Appeal a Decision:
1. Review the reason for credit denial.
2. Gather supporting documentation, such as the course syllabus and examples of coursework.
3. Complete the appeal form and submit it to the Registrar’s Office.
4. A decision will be issued within 3-5 business days, and the appeal outcome is final, with no further opportunities for reconsideration.
If you want to know if Jala University credits are accepted by other universities
The transferability of credits earned at Jala University is at the complete discretion of the institution to which you may seek to transfer. The acceptance of the Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Software Engineering is also at the complete discretion of the institution to which you may seek to transfer.
If the credits earned at Jala University are not accepted by the receiving institution, you may be required to repeat some or all of your coursework at that institution. For this reason, it is important to ensure that attending Jala University aligns with your educational goals.
